What makes iTDi different from other organizations is that you feel like you are in a community. The courses are very interesting, not only the material but also the opportunity we have to actually attend lectures with people from far, far away. How could I possibly have the chance to attend a course by Steven Krashen or Penny Ur or Vicki Hollett?

I take a lot of courses online but I haven’t found courses for ESL teachers that are of such high quality and so practical as the iTDi courses.

Because of iTDi's belief in affordable professional development for all teachers, being involved in iTDi means I get to meet a lot of professionals from other countries, teaching contexts, and backgrounds with challenges, ideas, and ways of thinking that are totally new to me.

Recently I've got the chance to take part in one of the most enlightening courses ever: Dogme by Scott Thornbury. The course was beyond any expectations as well as was the International Teaching Institute's support and organization. Thank you for all the forums' answers, the recordings, and the opportunities to clarify all my questions on Dogma.

I consider myself lucky enough to have found the ITDI community! It was an immense pleasure for me to be part of the cohort that took the course on Dogme ELT with the insightful Mr. Scott Thornbury. Having had the opportunity to draw on the knowledge of one of the greatest minds in education alongside like-minded people, was a truly enriching and eye-opening experience. What I found advantageous was that I was able to exchange ideas and invaluable experience with other colleagues from all corners of the world, and was welcomed to reflect critically on various topics related to my teaching approach. I highly recommend the courses at ITDI to anyone who strives to excel in their professional career! Special thanks to the cooperative and down-to-earth ITDI team, who have been genuinely supportive throughout!

I took the Dogme ELT course with Scott Thornbury and it was a true pleasure. Insightful, refreshing and very-well organised. I really appreciate that Scott took the time to answer each question in the live sessions and on the forum. What a wonderful opportunity to learn directly from and interact with a legend in the world of ELT. Big shout out to iTDi for immaculate planning of this course.

I’ve just finished my second course with iTDi, Visible learning for Teachers with Steven Herder (back in November 2020 I did Dogme ELT course with Scott Thornbury). I can’t thank enough all the amazing people who work in this community, and first of all Steven Herder, the director of iTDi and the course mentor, and every person who made this journey so enriching and meaningful.
Every live session was the highlight of the week over the past two months. The course was a unique opportunity to immerse myself in an enjoyable 8-week exploration of John Hattie’s educational theory and to explore the ways how to put the ideas from the book to practice. It involved a lot of deep reading, discussing, confirming and questioning the ideas, thinking which ones can be applied in my teaching context and which should be modified or explored further.
It’s the best place if you’re a teacher who is in a constant search for ways to improve your practices, if you are open to new ideas and teaching methods, if you want to know what impact your practices have on your student(s) and want to be the change agent in your classroom. A big part of the course was dedicated to exploring formative feedback and how to make your feedback matter to every student so it has a sizeable effect on learning.
This community gave me much more than a deeper understanding of my own teaching. One of the most valuable things for me was the chance to meet the most amazing people, wonderful educators and true enthusiasts in ELT, to build meaningful connections, and the opportunities to collaborate on many different levels, which you don’t often find elsewhere.

I took Scott Thornbury's GMILE course on Meaningful Action. It was intellectually challenging and very rewarding for both my thinking and my practice in ELT. The group had a great dynamic - so much so that we continue to meet to read and discuss books and articles together. Three of us are now taking Steven Herder's GMILE course on Visible Learning for Teachers - seems we just cant get enough!

I have just completed a course on NeuroELT and I'm extremely grateful to the authors and the lecturers of this course. It has been an amazing journey into the world of neuroscience and the brain, as well as the way it influences the process of teaching and acquiring a foreign language. Thanks a million!

Just completed the Dogme ELT course with Scott Thornbury. I really enjoyed everything about the experience including meeting Scott and all the other scholarly ELT teachers (from every corner of the globe) for a total of 4 Sunday mornings. I always felt engaged, part of the proceedings, and looked forward to every lesson. Good work Mr. Thornbury---it's always nice to be a part of your events on English language teaching (no matter where they take place)! All the other iTDi organizers were attentive and, well, super duper as well! A big thanks to Barbara Hoskins Sakamoto for her rapid replies to all of my emails and keeping us all on track with dates, links, times, and forum postings. I look forward to joining all of you for another virtual get together in the future.

I had the pleasure of completing the Dogme ELT course with Scott Thornbury and I must say the experience exceeded my expectations. Each session was an excellent opportunity for me not only to reflect on and improve my teaching methods but also to connect with wonderful teachers from around the world. Highly recommended!

The Dogme course I recently finished gave me, first of all, the chance to meet one of my most admired ELT personalities ever, Mr. Scott Thornbury. His sessions, comments, and caring personality have all made me feel eager to keep on learning. Not only that, but also the community of practice comprising highly professional teachers from all over the world from whom I've learnt lots and left me longing to exchange views and discuss ELT in the way we did. Thanks iTDi for such an efficient, helpful and insightful opportunity. Don't hesitate if you're thinking about taking the soon-to-begin course in November.

This is an amazing community! Full of care, generosity, high professionalism, and superb content. I feel at home 🙂 I've taken part in the Dogme course with Scott Thornbury and it's been the best learning experience ever 🙂

Dorothy Zemach's Self-Publishing for ELT Professionals Course offered through the International Teacher Development Institute (ITDI) is a highly organized and professionally delivered course about self-editing and self-publishing for authors and teachers. The course is full of very practical and useful information for anyone who wants to know exactly the steps that are included in the self-publishing process. I highly recommend this course to beginning authors like myself. Dorothy is friendly and straight forward in both her group and individual advice! She infuses her instruction with her own published examples and learn-from-her- mistakes examples. The ITDii support staff was also wonderful at helping all the students in the course and enabling us to stay on track. I recommend the course highly to future authors. My one recommendation for course improvement would be to add at least one class session to focus on using Microsoft Word Styles and editing because I found that the most daunting and derailing part of the process.

Top-quality courses from many of the best ELT teacher-trainers and educators around the world. There's a thriving, supportive, and friendly international community of ELT professionals who share ideas, resources, and help each other to become that much more than we were before - evolving and developing. And unique and interesting course, events, and opportunities are constantly in the making!

Since then, I have become a Facilitator nfor The Teachers' Room and Director for the iTDi TESOL Certificate Course.)

Joining iTDi in 2012 was such a blessing to me, and has drastically changed my life. I met world great teachers and authors that I could talk to and discuss with directly and even call them family. More amazingly, I also had a chance to present side by side with them in a world conference (what a joy! really something I could never imagine before!)..Suddenly I had a new home! A home of global community of teachers who nurture and support each other to become better teachers, A home that has helped me evolve personally and professionally.
iTDi generously helps support teachers from around the world by providing endless PD opportunities through its forum, workshops, free webinars and lots of advanced courses by world experts and professionals. Teachers here can take control of their own learning and decide which PD oppotunities that would suit them best and they can also work them out on their own pace. Isn't it fantastic?
I'm in love with iTDi and proud to be one, you?

A few months ago I found myself trying to open a new circle in my professional life. This led me to the social media world and connectedness. I came across iTDi, or iTDi came across me, quite unexpectedly while I was trying to navigate this challenging, for the newcomer, online world, and I feel thankful for that. My brief, so far, experience of being in their community can be summarized in: honesty, high quality professional development, support, opportunity. I’ve read so many diverse, mind opening posts in their blog, had the chance to write in it, too, have attended 2 excellent online courses, and have started building my Personal Learning Network. I have had the opportunity to share experimentations, learn from/with experts in the ELT field, and from/with other colleagues in diverse teaching and cultural contexts. I feel this is powerful and mind enriching. I think iTDi is exactly what it claims to be: a community for teachers by teachers. Honesty and consistency between words and praxis are so important.

I am proud to say that iTDi is my family. In 2012, To be honest, it was the lowest point in my teaching career as I had to start all over again when I began to establish a small English Course. I was nervous to start and was literally lonely because I had to do this all by myself. A good friend introduced me to the community and I was warmly welcomed by Chuck Sandy and Barbara Hoskin Sakamoto who keep encouraging me for what I am capable of doing, and that I don't need to worry. I remembered when Chuck excitedly told me that I won a scholarship of 10 TD (Teacher Development) lessons and Barbara invited me to join her skype Classes. Since that, my life and teaching have never been the same. I have received so much support, encouragement and advice from the community. I began to be connected to other great educators who have inspired me to keep learning and sharing. ITDi has also given me confidence to do things that I had never imagined doing before like Hosting iTDi workshop and iTDi Day in Indonesia 2013, becoming the TEFLIN 2013 co presenters with Barb, Ika and Nina, becoming a presenter of VRT ( Virtual Round Iable) Conference 2014. In itdi website, there are so many things I can learn from. iTDi blogs from great teachers, Advanced Courses that give great chances to learn from the very best educators, EFT ( English For Teacher) and TD ( Teacher Development) lessons that give me insights and new experience in teaching. My highest gratitude to iTDi. I proudly encourage other teachers especially in Indonesia to join because I believe in Connecting, Learning and Sharing. Thank you iTDi

iTDi is like home to me. I joined the community in 2012. Ever since I have received so much support, encouragement to be the best teacher I can be for my learners and the courses I've taken are always insightful. Being far way from major cities and CPD, I felt lonely and had no one to share, discuss and ask for guidance. In iTDi, I have all this, and the close contact with others has made the whole difference in my teaching since then. Thanks to iTDi community, I lost the fear of sharing my thoughts, beliefs and experiences with other teachers. I have people who care enough to spare their time and mentor me whenever I need mentoring. And thanks to them, I am the teacher I am today.
Plus English for Teachers (EFT) lessons are a great way to improve your English while learning how to discuss up-to-date teaching topics in English. The lesson is designed around language and the sharing of experiences from teachers around the world. We practice read, listening and writing. Writing in the forums gives course takers the possibility to continue the conversation with other course takers and mentors, and also find the support and guidance needed within the community through the social forums. I also found that the Teaching Skills Development (TD) lessons are a great way to brush up my teaching skills through video, activities that help you check your understand of the concepts and the forum for discussion. The Advanced Course through live sessions and direct contact of the course instructor and community has been a mind-blowing experience. I can't thank iTDi enough for all the wonderful ways they offer to teachers worldwide. I proudly encourage teachers to join because I really believe in what we do.

I joined iTDi in 2012. What a pleasure it has been. I have connected with teachers around the world. Communicating with these teachers has had more benefits that I could have imagined. I have met many wonderful people along the way that I am proud to call my friends. Sometimes teaching is difficult, but it is made much easier by being part of a group of teachers who care passionately about their job and are always there to offer support and advice. There is also the practical side. From blog posts to professional development courses with world class educators, it is genuinely an honour to be part of this great community. I hope to be part of iTDi for many years to come.

It's an honour for me to form part of iTDi and to be able to interact with leading educators from all over the world. This community offers multiple opportunities for professional growth through courses developed by experienced educators, who are also amazing people.
I'm really thankful to the iTDi Team for inviting me to be a mentor within the community.
I love that iTDi classes are small. I tried other online classes and MOOCs, but I always felt overwhelmed and isolated. When you join iTDi, you become part of a close-knit community that continues when the class is over. The classes are affordable. With the range of course fees, you can choose the fee that is affordable for you and your needs, as well as feel great knowing you are helping to support someone else get the same amount of training with your course fee. The community, administrators, and teachers are supportive. What I really like about iTDi is that you are studying and learning from and with teachers from around the world

Courses taught by Respected Experts in English Language Teaching
5/5
ITDI performs a valuable service in making available the insights, specialist knowledge and expertise of a variety of ELT methodologists and linguists available to a worldwide audience.
It selects and plans courses on a variety of topics, using a variety of expert course leaders, thus affording a wide range of courses open to participants. It is in touch with a large number of English teachers from different countries who register for courses and provide excellent feedback. Such teachers often form personal / professional relationships with other participants and are clearly delighted when they re-encounter each other in later courses.
From the point of view of a course-leader: I did not as a rule like teaching online very much, until the ITDI staff showed me how positive an experience it can be for both teacher and participants. Inevitably there are occasional glitches. But the excellent staff are there on call to solve problems as quickly as possible: I love the feeling of professional support before, after and during actual online sessions… And also the friendly banter before and after sessions between participants and the ITDI people who are ‘there’ in the background throughout.
Keep it up, ITDI! You provide a first-rate service for teachers round the world, for which they are very grateful.

The first thing I loved was how welcoming the community is. People from all over the world had respect for the other participants opinions and shared knowledge freely and honestly- warts and all. The second thing was how professionally run the program was. To have access to an expert in their field, particularly when you live on a small island, is an amazing experience. Third, my teaching was really improved and the knowledge could be put to use immediately, to great effect.
